Fall of Snow in Abruzzo

The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found?

We’ve had a little bit of snow in Abruzzo over the last week. In my little part of the region it wasn’t as heavy as the snowfall of 2012 but this time it has affected Italy and in fact Europe more significantly.

It looks beautiful though!

Although the snow appears to have stopped falling temperatures are predicted to plummet to eight degrees below zero later this afternoon and that will make the roads dangerous for travelling.

Earlier today I stepped outside and as I walked around the centro storico the shaded streets were like an ice rink.

So my advice to any of you in Abruzzo right now is not to make any unnecessary journeys and simply relax and enjoy this natural enchantment.
