Santo Stefano di Sessanio

We’re back in the Gran Sasso & Monti della Laga National Park and visiting a town called Santo Stefano di Sessanio. As always, there’s plenty of information about the town on the internet, including the fact that it is renowned for its production of lentils.

Here are some photographs that will give you an idea what it looks like.

Stone buildings, narrow streets and superb views from the top of the Medici Tower make this town a joy to visit and stroll around.  An interesting feature of the town is the extended hotel, Sextantio, that uses restored buildings throughout the town as rooms for visitors.  Here’s an article about it.

Here are a few facts:

  • It’s in the L’Aquila provence
  • 1250 metres above sea level
  • In September it has a lentil festival “Sagra delle Lenticchie”
