I’d wanted to see the inside of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Atri for a long time. Going to Atri is the obvious first step. But I’d been there at least three times and each time the cathedral was closed for restoration. This time there were no signs of any work going on but the [...] After a really enjoyable visit to the abbey of San Liberatore, and a very fine picnic, we headed off to find the remains of stone huts used in the past as mountain refuges by shepherds. We thought they were on the far side of Roccamorice, so we took the route from Serramonacesca to Lettomanoppello and then [...] The five of us set off at 10 am, heading to the Majella. We had a plan, and our first stop was The Abbey of Saint Liberatore (L’Abbazia Di San Liberatore), Serramonacesca (PE).
