It was the Giro d’Italia after all, so we expected crowds. We had no idea how traffic and parking were going to be affected so we decided to arrive early. Stage 12 was starting from Città Sant’Angelo Village at 12:05 and was going to make its way hugging the Adriatic until it reached Porto Recanati 206 [...] We’re in the middle of summer and I’ve not written about Pineto yet! That makes no sense at all. What’s really odd is I may have left it until summer was well and truly over before I wrote about one of my favourite Abruzzo beaches. Maybe sometimes you need a prompt, and in this case [...] The first time I visited Abruzzo I stayed in Francavilla al Mare in the Chieti province. It is a small seaside town, which acts as a good base for exploring the rest of Abruzzo. It is about 8km from Pescara and about 8km from Pescara airport.
